What is the Kentucky Enhanced Services Collaborative Practice Agreement?

The Outcomes Kentucky Enhanced Services Collaborative Practice Agreement (CPA) helps eligible Kentucky pharmacists expand the clinical services they can provide to patients through a physician-signed, state-specific agreement.

The CPA includes a broad range of clinical service protocols, including point-of-care test-and-treat services, preventive care, self-care services, and medication-related services. Outcomes coordinates the physician-signed protocol, annual protocol maintenance, and access to the current agreement so pharmacies can focus on delivering patient care.

 

What services are included?

The Kentucky Enhanced Services CPA includes 19 current protocols. Pharmacies may choose which covered services to implement.

Test, Treat, and Infectious Disease

  • Group A strep pharyngitis

  • Influenza antiviral therapy

  • Influenza chemoprophylaxis

  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infection

  • SARS-CoV-2 infection

  • Tuberculin skin testing

Prevention & Screening

  • Colorectal cancer screening

  • HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)

  • Travel health therapies

Emergency & Allergy Care

  • Emergency epinephrine devices for anaphylaxis

  • Allergic rhinitis therapies

Self-Care & Reproductive Health

  • Diabetes testing and injection supplies

  • Hormonal contraception

  • Emergency contraception

  • Over-the-counter dietary supplements

  • Over-the-counter probiotics

Behavioral Health & Cessation

  • Alcohol use disorder using naltrexone-based therapy

  • Opioid use disorder using naltrexone-based therapy

  • Tobacco cessation therapy

What support does Outcomes provide?

Outcomes helps simplify ongoing CPA administration by:

  • Coordinating the physician-signed protocol

  • Maintaining the protocol annually

  • Providing access to the current CPA agreement

Pharmacies remain responsible for completing applicable training, meeting documentation requirements, and determining how covered services will be implemented within their pharmacy. Outcomes does not provide training or interpretation of Kentucky law through the CPA program.

Do I have to offer all 19 services?

No. The Kentucky Enhanced Services CPA is offered as a single bundled CPA, but pharmacies may choose which covered services they want to implement.
